Khalid Abdulqaadir is a Navy Veteran and former Intelligence Officer. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, an MBA, and a Master of International Relations. He's also a PhD candidate in American Studies focusing on film and literature. Khalid holds an Advanced Russian Language Studies certification and is proficient in Japanese and Arabic. As a writer, Khalid obtained a Professional Screenwriter Certificate from UCLA, is a Writers Guild Foundation's Veteran Writing Project graduate, and is certified as a screenplay analyst at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As an essayist, he's published in the New York Times and Boston Globe. In 2024, Khalid's film placed in the American Black Film Festival.
He began his filmmaking career in 2017 when he adapted his autobiography into a screenplay titled "Affection of a Tiger." The script would place in the top 10 of a national screenwriting competition at BET and Viacom's "Project Cre8" competition. His second screenplay would land him in the 2nd round of the Sundance Writer's Lab. Khalid placed as a quarterfinalist, semifinalist, and finalist in Screencraft competitions. He has written, directed, and produced 20 film projects.
